Biography

Maddie Andersen is currently a 2018 BFA candidate in the University of Utah’s School of Dance. During her time at the University of Utah, she has worked with choreographers such as: Juan Carlos Claudio, A’Keitha Carey, Molly Heller, Leslie Telford, Daniel Clifton, and Satu Hummasti in Performance Dance Company. She collaborated with film maker and choreographer, Marty Buhler in a dance work titled Waldoor. Marty was also the filmmaker for Maddie’s full length story play; Apartment Four, at the Marriot Studio Theatre. She is currently collaborating with visual artist, Nemo Miller to explore the juxtaposition of the permanence clay can obtain verses the impermanence of the human body, both serving as mediums of realized art. She was president of the University of Utah’s dance honors society, Orchesis, and received the 2016-2017 Dizzy Feet Foundation Scholarship. Maddie has taught dance for children with disabilities and has volunteered to help with dance for Parkinson’s Disease Classes in the community. She continues to want to create attentive environments for herself and others to grow together in and out of studio and performance spaces.
